Game Rules

1. Basic: Callbreak is a four-player trick-taking card game played using a standard fifty-two card deck. Quick-mode games consist of three rounds, while standard-mode games have five rounds.
2. Direction: Prior to the first game, players determine the dealer and playing directions. This is achieved by having each player draw a card and arranging the dealer and playing directions based on the order of the cards drawn. The dealer will rotate in a counter-clockwise direction.
3. Deal: The dealer distributes thirteen cards to each player in a counter-clockwise direction.
4. Call: In Callbreak, players predict the number of tricks they believe they will win in each round. Accurately calling the number of tricks results in positive scores, while failing to do so leads to negative scores.
5. Play: In the Callbreak card game, Spades are the trump suit. Players must strategically play their cards, aiming to win each trick by playing the highest card in either the same suit or utilizing a trump card. If unable to do so, any card may be played.
6. Trick: The first player in each trick can initiate the play by using any card from their hand. The winner of each trick is determined by the highest spade card played or, if no spades were played, the highest card of the leading suit. Players take turns in a counter-clockwise direction to start subsequent tricks.
7. Score: Players earn scores equal to their calls if they successfully win at least that number of tricks. Additional tricks above their call count as 0.1 points per trick. Failing to reach their call count results in a deduction of points equivalent to their calls.
